Welcome! As usual, kitchen treats have sidetracked Muttlee—he’s slacking off and busy chewing on his bones. So I will help you get started. My name is Mr. Whoot. I’m a senior moderator and in charge of any weighty comments. I often take a peck with my sharp beak at Climate-Change Deniers and Community-Wreckers. Stay tuned!
Sorry—important meeting and commitments in the kitchen that I can’t miss. Check out the Contents button above (Page Title area—“Information”) if you need a quick overview.
On the Soapbox
Navigating Change
We think our society (and the planet as we know it) is in for some challenging and difficult times. Climate change, and other important factors, will shape our future. This will force change in how we live our lives. Communities—however we define them—will go through change and flux.
Reimagine has several articles on Climate Change; we take a position on it (see the Home Page link). That’s the red-colored button that Mr. Whoot thinks stands out like a sore thumb.
This website helps you navigate the waters of change. Your primary “asset” in all of this is your ability to Reimagine new Communities. Communities that are responsible in the areas of society and the environment. Communities where people help one another. Communities that you dream and envision—Reimagine—and build with others.
This sounds suspiciously like Mr.Whoot getting warmed up for another Soapbox Rant. At least he’s fairly tame at this point.
We have no problems with you working, making a living and doing well in your business of choice! But we don’t think the current models of capitalism, massive accumulations of wealth and power by the few, and endeavors that abuse the planet are conscionable, ethical or fair. We think there are foundational problems with our current systems.
Unfortunately, we doubt that the “powers-that-be” will make the required changes in a timely fashion. Money and power are too important to them. Affluent and entitled societies—with voters reluctant to make significant changes or sacrifices—aren’t helping this growing problem. Voters in democracies vote the will of the people. More or less—but that’s another topic for another day.
Times of Change
If you didn’t catch this under the Links in the Menu, then check this article out! It’s got some Rant-on-the-Soapbox in it.
There are two primary website “branches” within The Portal —Reimagine and Rethink.
Reimagine is an important branch and in many ways is the hub of the wheel. This is because the creative flow in Reimagine feeds into everything else in Reimagine-Rethink.
Check these two links out if you would like to understand the differences. Rethink is important as well. However, we will launch it after Reimagine.
Starting with the Home Page within Reimagine, awareness of Community for anyone, as individuals, groups, friends or families, must begin somewhere.
The Home Page and support sections (links) help with that and provide some basic concepts for you to look over.
Trek is foundational. All the Build activities rely upon what you work out from the Home Page and in Trek.
Much of Reimagine has flavors of a “Journey” in it.
Follow the icons on the Home Page or the Menu to access Trek.

This isn’t about farming!
Community might have a farm associated with it! That depends a lot on how you shape your own Community as you work through your Trek into Community.
We are using an analogy from agriculture to provide a broad framework and a “flow” for reflection and discussion.

Discovery Cards
Discovery Cards are cards that provide a few suggested links for different audience needs.
We know that there are different ways of looking at a topic and different ways of learning. We also know that Community is a very large topic. It’s not like we can say “Oh—let’s just write for a target audience of ABC and ignore others.” We don’t think that would be appropriate for this very broad topic area.
Besides the main section links and icons (via Home Page or the Menu), Discovery Cards can be helpful for different audiences.
Try them on to see what works best for your learning and content engagement preferences. There is no “right way” to Reimagine your Community. We respect your Journey and those with you.
We use many characters developed from nature. You will find them throughout the website. Additional characters are developed in The Reimagine Book. Each character has its own unique personality.
You can find the Site Map here. We encourage use of the Menu to provide an overall flow—this will give you context as you view various pages and links.
Moderators gather the thoughts of many. This involves everything from discussions with peers to reading good books and meeting interesting people.
To suggest that we can attribute this to one individual doesn’t seem right. Each one of us is the sum of valued inputs from our parents, peers, teachers, mentors, acquaintances, friends, good movies and books and podcasts. That’s just a short list. Let’s not forget about watching the antics of puppies at play, ants and bees busy at their work, or how gardens grow. Then there’s spirituality, prayer, and meditation. Creative inventions in the garage. It’s a long list.
Our moderators, therefore, represent the thoughts of many being synthesized into fictional characters in our Cast.
Community is a collective effort. We use the term “we” as frequently as possible.
In the words of a wise poet (John Donne):
For I am involved in mankind. Therefore, send not to know For whom the bell tolls, It tolls for thee.
