Reimagine My Community

Plant Community – 1

Getting Ready to Plant

We just had a few questions before we dive in …

Compass heading before your vision?

Hint – this is a no-no.

(not that we ever have done this … rrright … and our nose is growing longer …)

We’re just kinda’ wondering how you made out with the Journey … that’s all.

The Importance of the Reimagination of the Vision

All too often, we don’t take time to sharpen and clarify the vision. This means that we haven’t taken the time to Reimagine our vision for Community.

For many, and especially visionaries, the natural tendency and desire is often to GET-ON-WITH-IT.

These desires can come from ourselves and from others within your team.

The get-‘r-done and full-steam-ahead builders and doers among us don’t always enjoy the discipline of patient waiting.

What's in the Balloon?

It might be a premature vision (incomplete Reimagination) or a vision delayed too long. A lifeless moon awaits that balloon. A few extra gusty winds along the way.

Or it might be a mature vision (complete Reimagination). That balloon is enjoying the scenery and pleasant winds. Sometimes the winds are contrary, but the mix of good and bad moves you towards the vision.

Pause … be sure.

Patience pays dividends.

Impatience or fear-based delay? Well … that’s another story….

There’s always a time to bring to the birth. Allow the natural “gestation period” for the vision to run its course.

There is a time to Plant.

Allow Reimagine to nurture the vision.

It just works better that way.

Insights can Come from Unusual Sources

No, it doesn’t have to come from a note in a bottle or a blinding light from heaven.

There are many ways for Reimagine to come into your life.

We encourage you to remain open to unexpected sources…

Sometimes, a quiet evening stroll is all we need … and the light comes on.

And the “aha!”moment visits you….

In the evening mists….

Breaking Ground

When we “turn sod,” break ground or plant something, so much depends on clarity of the Vision for Community. Time invested into the earlier stages (Briefing, Journey) will pay you and your team dividends through many aspects of developing Community. Some dividend examples include:

  • Efficient use of capital;
  • Efficient utilization of the team’s available pool of hours;
  • Helps to steer clear of false starts. If we do not align our heart with the Vision for Community. we can encounter false starts. Soon enough, the heart speaks with a gnawing sense of something amiss or missing. That’s when plans can get disrupted, or the pool of co-workers is no longer with us;
  • Minimizes wastage;
  • Poor planning (or planning based on incorrect assumptions) can never provide the best pathway to Community.

Rethink articles will dive into this area further. Solid foundations are important.

Our resident cat and design engineer, Pizza-Pie

“Do I always have to straighten this outfit out?

If you would’ve listened to me in the first place, we would have gotten this tower done a long time ago.

Stop bothering me with details … like correct engineering of foundations.  You spend far too much time on all of these details!

And next time straighten up your camera before you snap the pic.

Now, hand over the sardine pizza and no one gets hurt.

I promise.

This time.

You can trust me.”

Trust that cat?  Ya’ gotta’ be kidding!

How Clear is Your Team Vision?

There are quieter ones among you and your team.

Unlike Pizza-Pie, and other Fearless Leaders and Visionaries of Renown or Infamy, quieter voices are often valuable.

They often see things that are important for success in preparations for the Planting Stage. Things that the “Movers and Shakers” cannot see without their assistance.

Listen for the quiet voices in the heart of your people. Hear them.

And in your own heart.

Let's Move forward with the Planting!
